Hi all,

In the current versions of Netbackup one must install NFS services on both Windows clients & media servers in order to be able to browse the granular restore files (Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint).

Why is NFS needed for a granular restore?

Please fix Netbackup so that restores can be done without starting all kinds of extra services...

Also there is some rule that the GRT image should reside on disk storage only, before a granular restore can be done. Why?

Granular restores should be just as simple as a normal restore...

Yes the store indexing could

Yes the store indexing could be done on the client (like BackupExec I think), instead of mounting the freshly backed-up image over NFS to index it...
