Truscan (heuristic scanning part of Proactive Threat Protection) should also run on Windows Server OSes. Today it only runs on workstation OSes (XP, etc).

Proactive Threat Protection

There should be some strong reason for not having Proactive Threat Protection for servers OS.

I would like to have the informaton on what benefits does the Proactive Threat Protection (PTP) offer. This would help us to understand whether to have it on servers or not. Can anybody provide me this information?

Should be fine. Install it as Log Only.

I do not understand why the original poster here wrote  "Today it only runs on workstation OSes (XP, etc) ?".
Question mark is mine.  I took the class and ther was no suggestion to not install on servers.

We are now starting to migrate our client servers from SAV to SEP, and will use Antivirus-Antispyware with TruScan PTP, the latter in Log Only mode for now..

I would suggest you install TruScan as Log Only.  Look over the TruScan logs later and decide what you want to do with what it finds. Yoiu can also adjust teh sensitivity later.

I see no reason to not install it on servers.  There may be some situations where you want to uncheck "Scan new processes immediately."

TruScan creates COH Events as I recall,  so you might need  to explain to someone that these are normal.
COH is an old name for TruScan and stands for Confidence Online Heavy. Same as SONAR in the consumer product.
Thanks

Clarification

Title: 'Proactive Threat Protection status shows "OFF" in the client interface'

Title: 'Proactive Threat Protection (PTP) definitions are current, but its status stays OFF on systems running Windows Server 200x, Windows 7 or a 64-bit version of Windows XP'
