Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 - Simplified email notifications
Currently when Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 emails you about a backup job, the least you can distil the messages down to is 3, 1 to say it started, 1 to say it completed and 1 to say it deleted the old backup.
On your average server with a manufactures hidden partition, one for the OS and one for the data or apps this result in 7 emails just to tell you it completed sucesfully.
Now this is not nessisarily a bad thing but it would be nice to have the option to only get the 1 email thats says the backup completed for each partition, or better yet one email for the entire backup job.
If like us you monitor many customer sites, rapidly aproaching the 100 mark, getting 7 emails rather than one becomes a big issue...
Maybe a tick box called "simplified messaging" in which case it then only sends the job complete or failed message, skipping the job started and the old backup was deleted message.
Or have a tick box "Combine messages" and have it buffer them all and put them in one email at the emd of the job...

Hi,
i know, the thread ist rather old but i have the same problem here.
My backup job (drive c:\, d:\ an the hidden windows system partition) includes an offsite-copy to a RDX-drive. So every day we get 21 (!!!) mail notifications.
I had the idea of checking windows system logs and create a sendmail-task triggered by an event. But all events created by System Recovery have the same event ID (100). So no luck this way.
Is there a workaround to reduce it to one or two mails?

Edit: Ups...didn't saw that this is the "idea" section.
Hi,
here the same.
I would like to get 1 e-mail for each backup job when it's ready. The mail should include all information of the backup protocols.
Would you like to reply?
