While forums on this site are extremely helpful there are certain intricacies in Department of Defense (Army in this case) systems that commercially oriented troubleshooting tips do not address.  Case in point is I have recently installed SEP and SEPM on DOD classified systems and am having trouble with LiveUpdate.  Pinging the Symantec LiveUpdate site does not work for me to verify connectivity.  Perhaps DOD oriented troubleshooting guides could be published on the respective agency (Army, Air Force....) sites that address both classified and unclassified issues.

Thanks

The troubleshooting steps

The troubleshooting steps should be same for both environments. If you are not able to ping liveupdate site that means its getting blocked by your network firewall.

Alternate test for LiveUpdate connectivity

Yes, but if they have blocked ping, then ping is not a valid test.

You can use this as a valid test however:

http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com\livetri.zip
or
http://liveupdate.symantec.com\livetri.zip

If you get a prompt to save the livetri.zip then your connection to Symantec LiveUpdate is working.
