Update virus definitions before scanning

I have a spare machine which is not switched on for weeks. When it was switched on, it immediately started to scan as per my policy. However, the virus definition is weeks old. This behavious is obvious not desirable. SEP should get the latest update before scanning.

Great idea but should not give error message and not scan if their is no network connection
