Hello,

We are upgrading the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager  and SEP clients from  MR1 to MR1 MP1, MR1 MP1 to MR2, MR2 to MR2 MP1, MR2 MP1 to MR2 MP2, MR2 MP2 to MR3, MR3 to MR4, MR4 to MR4 MP1, MR4 MP1 to MR4 MP2 and now MR5.....

Its been a long long upgrades...

I would be really wonderful if we could have the upgrades of versions done by a simple "Upgrade Button" or simply via a Easy Download from Internet without pressing a Button.

Known Upgrade methods....

1) Download the Latest Upgrade from fileshare.symantec.com. Manually upgrade the SEPM and then Schedule an Auto-upgrade to the groups.
2) Download the Latest Upgrade from fileshare.symantec.com. Manually upgrade the SEPM and then deploy the Clients via "Search Unmanaged" Clients OR via Migration and Deployment Wizard.
3) Download the Latest Upgrade from fileshare.symantec.com. Manually upgrade the SEPM and Change the Liveupdate Policy > under Advance Settings > Product Update Settings > Download Symantec Endpoin Protection Product Updates using a Liveupdate Server.

Suggestions:

Till time, all the Above Upgrades requires SEPM to upgrade itself Manually.  Could we ...

1) Upgrade the SEPM and SEP clients via Simple and Stress free Downloads, where we all have to do is click on "Download" Button.
2) As soon as a new Upgrade arrives, the SEPM admin would see on the Home Screen that there is a upgrade available. He may choose to upgrade or schedule the same for an upgrade the SEPM and all SEP clients.
3) The Download and Upgrade would be done automatically as Scheduled by the SEPM admin.

We require a Stress free Upgrades as the Software is a Enterprise Software and customer might have 5000 to 50000+ machines on his network which would make the upgrade difficult if he selctes to do it manually. Automatic Upgrade would remove lot of Stress and would prefer upgrades more effectively.

Thanks and Regards

Multiple SEPMs

How would you deal with Replication partners, as all relationships must be broken and all SEPMS must be upgraded to the same version and replication re-established after upgrade?

The reason for breaking

The reason for breaking replication relationships is to ensure that no data is inserted into the database while the Schema is getting upgraded.

I doubt this can get changed, though it would be nice to see.
