Hi all,

We (and a lot more people) have had a really hard time the past three years with Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.
Almost we came to the point of switching to another vendor, but after all the suffering we had with Symantec Endpoint Protection V11, now version 12 comes out.
I have installed this at some clients right now and I am very, and I must say, very pleased with it so far.
No issue's during installation. Configuration is a breeze. Deployment went very easy using the new deployment wizard and so on.

Now the tricky part.
I have sleepless nights over all my customers that are still running ver. 11, knowing they are sitting on a time bomb to go off.
We work for SMB customers, and mostly we sold Multi Tier Protection - SBE, which is now to be replaced with Protection Suite - SBE.
Most of them have a year based contract so we will be able to upgrade them in an acceptable time frame.
But I also have a couple that bought a three year contract. What about those?
An upgrade is not free, so we need to pay a considerable amount of money for upgrading a product that has never been reliable in the first place.
On the other hand, I am not willing to invest any more time or money in the problems we had in the past. And neither are my customers.

So why not make it a free upgrade?

Greets and wishes,

Hey ObieOne, our PM's ears must have been burning....

Hi ObieOne,

Our PMs suggested we'll have a few options for you.

1.  To get the new license immediately, just fill out the license transfer process on PartnerNet.
2.  Use crossgrade for renewals in the next 2-3 months if it's not an immediate need.
3.  There will be an automatic migration from SMP to SPS soon (most likely in November).

Hope that helps.

Eric

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the response and positive reply.
I have to tell I just had approval from my local agent, we can freely Xgrade to SPS.
They are currently in the process to creating a certficate.

I'll see you on Spiceworks ;-)

Glad it worked out for you!

I think alerting the other folks on SWorks how simple it is to get this migration will be beneficial.    I'll head over there in a few!

Best,

Eric

How to tell which upgrade you are intitled to.

We are currently on Version 11.0.2000.1567 and have a current support contract. In the information I have found they talk about MR2 or MP2 and that kind of versions. Is there a table of a location on Symantec's website that relates the different versions and upgrade paths
