Whitelist SMS Domino for certain file extension's
The actual SMS for Domino 8.x or any previous one, does not include any whitelist based on the file's extension.
Let me give you an example:
From the SMS settings, you can only do the following:
Tabulation Configuration; sub-tab Inclusions/Exclusions
You can : Exclude specified Databases and directories from scans. (Auto-Protect)
-----
You can : Scan All Attachments regardless of extension
OR
You can: Scan Attachments with specified file extensions
Obviously, in the case an attachment could not be scanned (Propitiatory) type of file, due to Scan Error reason;
The only available option is to change the Actions which belongs to that specific verdict, (Audit / Delete / Quarnatine) however this change would be applied 'Globally'.
Rather than to apply that action, as long as the file as been properly identified earlier - We could put the extension's file involved to a sort of whitelist which would avoid
SMS for Domino getting a verdict as Scan Error for that type of file.
Hope that is clear,
Cheers.

We have a section where you can specify only to scan certain extensions, but no where to scan all but these extensions.
Sometimes new filetypes or
Sometimes new filetypes or compressed filetypes using an algorithm that cannot be handled by the Decomposer cause scan errors, as mentioned above.
Updating the Decomposer typically is not an overnight job, and even if there is a newer version of SMS DOM available it is for larger organizations not possible to deploy this version without proper testing and planning.
It is therefore highly recommended to be able to exclude certain file types from realtime scanning.
Exclude file extensions from scan+ Scan error action
It's true that there is no where to scan all but certain extensions (currently you will need to specify endless extension list under "Specified file extensions") and I agree that there is a strong need to have a feature to exclude specified file extensions from scan.
Currently scan error action applies to all regardless of file extensions.
Some flexibility is required to specify different action for different file extensions. (e.g. audit action for pdf, quarantine action for other extensions)
