I would like to see the ability to backup more than one virtual machine at a time in the same backup job. Currently, if you create a backup job through vCenter, the job runs and will backup the first vm, then the second vm, etc. This causes users with large numbers of virtual machines to create multiple backup jobs to run at the same time in order to have virtual machine backups completed during the backup window. I would like the ability to tell Backup Exec to backup three virtual machines. This allows many more backups to occur simultaneously to fully utilize resources in the environment.

Ideally, there would need to be an option in the virtual machine backup job that tells Backup Exec how many virtual machines to backup at one time. Then the user can determine number of vm's vs performance. This will make backups much easier to manage and audit.

...that's going to be a complete re-engineering of the product...neither CA ARCserve nor Veeam Backup and Replication for instance do the same thing...

Thanks!

My understanding is Veeam does. At least that is what their presales engineers have said. I haven't used the product personally.

Even if the code has to be rewritten, I think it is a very good feature to have. I have 100 virtual machines to backup, really doesn't make sense to not backup multiple virtual machines at one time.
