Hello,

as discussed in https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/allow-deletion-archived-elements-after-x-days it would be a nice feature if there would be a possibility to allow deletion of archived elements after a specific time.

When using Enterprise Vault as an technical deposit users would have the possibility to delete Elements after the given time. I would imagine that there will be an additional Box in the settings of the Retention Category where you can choose "Prevent deletion of archived items in this category" + "Forever / xx days"

Another way it could be solved is the possibility to create a task to check items for their age and change their retention category to another one where deletion is enabled.

Thank you for treating this Idea

Jakob

So the thought here is end-user deletion? i.e. prevent end-user deletion for a time period then allow?

Whats the use case? Why would this be useful? Why not leave in the mailbox, then allow the user to delete  from EV as soon as they are archived?

Hi Andy,

the EV System is used to keep the mailboxes as small as possible because of performance reasons. So the mails were archived very early. There is a Business Policy that the users have to keep the Elements for x days. After that time it should be in the responsibility of the user to clean up the archive.

Thank you

Jakob
