You know how working with SEPM console would make life easier? If Symantec provided an API for the Administrator to automate common tasks.

Here is an example. We have numerous groups in the SEPM console that DO NOT INHERIT, because they have customized policies as per our organization. Now, I need to create custom location for each group, i.e. Group-Name On Line, Group-Name Off Line. I am manually going through each NON-INHERITED group to make these changes.

If Symantec could create an API for those who can program to do this automatically, this would be most helpful and would save a lot of time.

Think of the moveclient script someone created by using the database schema, but instead of working directly with a database, which is more likely to cause any errors if you execute the wrong command, an API serves as a front-end to making many changes at once.

If you copy the custom policy and place it in policies area you can edit the polices from one place and roll out to the groups rather than having to go to each group to roll out.

What about configuring locations for each group? I would like the online location to say [Group-Name] On-Line, and [Group-Name] Off Line.

And what about non-shared policies that one must create, how to roll them out to thousands of groups automatically?

The Enemy's greatest fear is that you'll discover who you really are, what you're really worth, and where you're headed.

Each individual policy can be labelled online & offline in the naming convention?

Once you created a custom single policy if you copy and paste it to the policies area then you can use "Assign the Policy" tool within the SEPM to roll out to 1000's of groups if needed.
