It is already planned for a future release

It is already planned to add 64bit support for AD/DC in a future SEP release.

This has been "Planned for a future release" for too long now.

We have to pay "twice" for each 64-bit client because we need to use an additional product to secure them.

we see on a day to day basis

we see on a day to day basis increasing no. of 64 bit clients and not only in the server segment also on the PC/laptop side, basically nearly every customer is now asking for it.

Yes. Agreed. Over the next

Yes. Agreed. Over the next year or so, the move to 64-bit OS's will be massive. In the next two years I imagine most new machines will come with 64-bit OSes. Symantec needs to get with the times on this. The SEP client is still not truly 64-bit itself.

Microsoft server OS is no

Microsoft server OS is no longer 32bit with the release of 2008 R2. I can't see 64bit support for ANY component not being a priority!!

Any News

I find it very confusioning how it can take years to get back functionality that I have paid for (AC\DC) when a well known OS upgrade is hitting the market.

Is the EOY 2010 a realistic target for DC?

Any official ETA update?

Is there an estimated time of arrival for this functionality?  How could this not be priority one?!

Oh...I could see....no proper

Oh...I could see....no proper answer/ solution regarding this matter since last year. What I have done at the moment is using the Kaspersky trial version to block USB devices of 64bit Windows 7 PCs. But this is a funny solutions as we have purchased the SEPM for the company's corporate environment.

Better if something can be done immediately for this matter . Cos our management insists to block the USB devices anyhow since we are running on air programs . ( Temporary solutions are not the perfect answer for this ).

I'm ready to buy GDATA

I'm ready to buy GDATA antivirus if 64 bits device control is not in the next release. I have tested DC on 64 bits system with Gdata successfully. Management interface is very ergonomic. Why still using out of date Symantec AV ???

Do it before McAfee

My understanding is that McAfee doesn't support AC DC either, I can say our orginization insists on blocking usb devices.  So if McAfee supports, that's where we have to turn.  I honestly hope SEPM gets their first cuz I don't want to undo the hours of work I spent getting it all setup.

ADC for 64bit systems is quite necessary

I would be very interested in Symantec providing ADC support for 64bit operating systems.  I am rather surprised that this was not rolled out concurrently with 32bit systems, and that it is taking this long to arrive in the SEP product.

Frustrated...

This is incredibly frustrating. We are deploying 64-bit clients to all of our hosts as it is clear to everyone (except Symantec clearly) that the world is moving to 64-bit as the standard. We really need this functionality or we will be forced to move to another vendor. angry

Can Try the Beta of SEP 12.1 Now

I understand that ADC will be fully supported on 64-bit computers under SEP 12.1, which will be released this summer.  "Amber Beta 2" for SEP 12.1 is available now for public download through Symantec Connect. Please sign up for the public beta at https://symbeta.symantec.com/login.html.

There is a public Beta 2 forum here on Connect: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/SEP_12_Beta_Group .

Thanks and best regards,

Mick
