At present, after the MobileSecurity.apk file is downloaded and installed on an Android client, the user of that Android smartphone or device is prompted to supply the IP address of its management server, a username, and a password.  These credentials are then used to enroll the client with the Symantec Management Platform and activate protection.  Below is an example:

An enhancement to simplify the process would be if the downloaded .apk file contained details on what server address should be entered, and (depending on how the product was configured) perhaps a valid username in the expected format.  All that the end user would need to know would be the password.

Maybe it could even be configured, should the administrators wish, that all necessary details are supplied.  All the end user needs to do is click "enroll."

If these details cannot be built into the .apk file, then perhaps a configuration file can be downloaded at the same time as the .apk, providing the valid information.

The current procedure for installing and enrolling SMS 7.2 can be seen in the following illustrated article:

Illustrated Guide to Installing Symantec Mobilie Security 7.2

Hi Yaniv,

Please do support this proposed enhancement request- until it makes its way into the product, end users must manually enter the server, username and password manually.

Do feel free to point them toward the article, above, which shows an example of exactly how that is done!

All the best,

With thanks and best regards,
