Hi,

When backing up Exchange data in a frontend / backend server environment, the databases to back up are shown either in the backend server or in the DAG entry. Since Microsoft doesn't allow to backup from the mailbox servers, the data is somehow magically redirected to flow through the frontend server(s). No problem so far, everything works like a charm.

When doing a restore in such an environment, every "normal" restore will fail, since the job must be manually redirected to the frontend server. Why can't Backup Exec do the same "magic" at the time of restore, that it does during the backup phase? It would be great, if the frontend server could be automatically determined and the job redirected without having the administrator to do so.

All the best from overseas,
Oliver
