In an environment where we have multiple Backup Exec Servers and we need to login to each server to check the backup status or go through multiple emails which were generated as per the notification from those servers a small piece of software can help which will be installed on the Desktop of the IT Administrator and an agent of it on all the backup exec servers. All the backup exec severs will send a timely update to the Software on the Administrators desktop and the Administrator can just monitor all his backup exec servers by just opening the console of the software and this way the Job of the administrator will be much easier to Manage and Monitor the backups on Multiple servers. Though email notification solves the purpose upto an extent but it becomes pain at times to go through Multiple emails one by one and search for them later in the mail box.

We have used Symantec OpsCenter to monitor our Backup Exec servers and this followed us through to using NetBackup where it works really well

...VBU, it's called Central Admin Server Option (CASO) and it already exists. For BE 2010 back, it was called CASO...it's part of the Enterprise Server Option (ESO) for BE 2012...

Thanks!

I know about CASO and MMS thing. The suggestion was just a small tool to monitor the backups and not manage the backups. Also CASO requires a license with a huge cost. The Tool should provide the numbers like X backups successful out of Z and Y backups failed along with Q backups still running. Where in X Y Z and Q are the numbers with hyperlink when clicked on should show the server names when clicked on servernames should show the details about that server alongwith Backup Exec Version and status of various jobs. Also the tool can be installed or accessed from a user desktop PC. For CASO I guess a dedicated server is needed. Though we have certain third party tools available to do the job like DPA from EMC I guess but a similar tool from Symantec would be helpful.

Aha...now it makes sense...I've voted this up. BE/CASO's reporting functionality is poor...something I mentioned to someone in a usability discussion in December 2012...
