Can we please have a way of setting up DateTime parameters with dynamic default values in reports?

Dear Symantec,

I have just created a report that needs to take a parameter of a DateTime, but this DateTime needs to be defaulted to today, but, if a user wishes to change this date, then the user should be able to change it to something else.

Currently, the DateTime parameter can be set to show a Date and a Time for the execution of the report and to have a date and a time picker for both of these. However, the Date/Time pickers do not allow for a default value and if no default value is given for a Date/Time picker, then this defaults to "1801-01-01T00:00:00.000". This means that I need to add a default value of something like "2013-09-24T00:00:00.000", but this will not be a valid default next week, next month or next year.

There is an alternative to this of creating a dropdown for the dates and let a user then select a date. This could be done in two or three stages (year, month, day) and causes issues with date validation (the 31st of June 2008 and the 29th of February 2009, etc). Alternatively, a free text field could be used, but that is possibly just as problematic.

So, to make life easier, please could the Date/Time fields allow a checkbox for defaulting to today's date or perhaps to include the default value to be set via a dynamic SQL query?

Kindest regards,
