Hi,

The reliability of the end user client for Enterprise Vault is paramount for a successful Enterprise Vault installation.  Often add-ins can be disabled or broken in other ways which means the user is unable to retrieve or search for EV data.

The EV client should include a self updating troubleshooting and diagnosis tool.  It could examine registry keys, log files etc. to identify what the issue is and how to resolve it.  Obviously today there is resetevclient but it's limited in what it resolves.

Importantly such a tool should have 'liveupdate' type capability so it's always getting smarter about what issues there are and how to resolve them.  It could even send details to Symantec so they are aware of what problems are being encountered so they could make the client more relaible.

Hi Mike - Thanks for the suggestion. We are continually looking at these kind of ideas to improve the EV end user experience. Checking of client health as well as auto-checking of client functionality are just two ideas we are currently evaluating. I'll report back here should any of this be assigned to a release vehicle.
