complete registry cleaner after uninstallation
Created: 12 Feb 2013 | 3 comments
Dear All,
I am working on symantec Altiris and come to know some new requirement is sometime does not required but sometime it must be as Audit and compliance point of view.
My concern is there is no solution in altiris to clean complete registry entries of any uninstalled software. I expect this requirement may be considered in future.
Thanks & Regards
Kishorilal

Hello Kishorilal,
You can always push a run script task that is scripted out to clean certain reg keys as well as any type of cookies, temp files and what not.....

Hello Kishorilal,
There are some organizations who may feel that proper audit and controls may actually dictate that a registry should NOT be scrubbed based on what WAS installed. A complete history of the device that includes traces of what was installed may be important to them. Scrubbing a registry clean with a script may actually yield non-compliance by falsifying what was actually on a device at a particular time.
So depending on the situation, history may or may not be important to some.
Altiris is the delivery method. Uninstallation is just the package delivered. Look to a custom uninstall package to do what you would like as an option.
good luck!
