Connect needs to prevent spam

In order to prevent spam, Connect accounts should require customer/employee/partner reference numbers so that they can be validated before the account is enabled.

This idea may not be so good.  Suppose I am not a Symantec customer, but I am interested in some Symantec product.  RIght now, I can create an id and ask exploratory questions on Connect.  With your idea, I would not be able to ask these questions and thus will never be a customer.

The prevention method could be done in a different manner then, like adding one or two of those graphic alphanumeric boxes that need filling out.

Connect Etiquette: "Mark as Solution" those posts which resolve your problem, and give a thumbs up to useful comments, articles and downloads.
