Delete requests synchronization
Hi.
We are using EV 9.0.2 and noticed that if users delete items / folders during backup mode, those requests are not honored by the Vault. This will result in folders that are completely gone from Otlook being still available in the Vault. True, folders deleted during normal operation will still be available in the Vault but for that at least there is a workaround in registry to delete empty folders. I think this is a big issue that needs to be fixed. Enterprise Vault is... well, enterprise class product and when you have users all over the world, for sure that some of them will work during backup times. This might also become a legal issue when you don't expect to have some items in the vault but still those are in there.
Was talking to support engineer and was told that same behaviour exists in EV 10, so definitely an upgrade will not help.
Thank you.

Then switch to using virtual vault or change your policy settings and the soft delete options in the policy
Virtual Vault is not an option. And don't see how soft delete will change this behaviour.
Hi Ovidiu - I would be interested to hear what are the reasons for Virtual Vault not being an option?
Your tech support engineer is indeed correct and this behaviour will not change once you upgrade to Enterprise Vault 10.x.
In terms of a solution for handling shortcut deletions during backup, how would you prefer the product responded to the end user?
Hi Alex.
Let's say management doesn't want to go that route. Obvious servers will be in backup mode at times and those requests need to be honored. Discussed this at a different level and Symantec will work on finding a way to manage those requests. I have a case open for this and getting updates on the status.
Thanks.
