At the present time, LiveUpdate Administrator can send email notifications/alerts to administrators if a download or distribution task fails.  It can also send mails upon the successful completion of the task.

A helpful addition to this functionality would be if the LUA 2.x server could keep track of all active tasks, and send a mail if an individual task has not completed within a set amount of time.  This mail could raise awareness of a task that has potentially "hung" without failing completely out.

This would also be an important alert to network security administrators that a particular download job (for example) is taking longer than is typical - perhaps the large monthly hub downloads.  The admin can then be aware that definitions will not be ready at the usual time and take any necessary action.  (Perhaps a daily distribution task is scheduled after the hour when the download usually succeeds.  The admin will know to launch a manual distribution after receiving the email about the hub download's successful completion.)

Hello,

+vely Voted.

For sure, this would be highly advantageous to the Security Admin, if this IDEA gets implemented.
