SF 6.0 comes with VxFS which support file level compression.
Is there any plan to implement file system/directory level compression?

vxcompress can be run with either files or directories as a parameter. When passing a directory, all files in that directory will be compressed.
For more details, please check out the admin guide available on sort.symantec.com.
Also check the feature in VOM 5.0, it actually allows you to select which file system/directory level to compress, report on compression across multiple servers and verify the status of compressing jobs.
Just navigate to the file system (SF 6.0 w/ layout version 9 or later) that you want to compress and click on the compression tab. There you could start a compressing job on demand, schedule compression, and verify compression status. Also check the report 'Savings by File System Compression'.
