We have raised a case  number 04928531  related to installation issues of Symntec Backupexec 2012 in Windows Server 2012 Std 64 bit OS.

We were informed that the same will be supported in the up cming release. Kindly inform us if the release is ready or when it is expected.

We have been completely left in the lurch. The only server we have is Windows Server 2012 and the product we bought is lying useless for 3 months now.

Hi Craig,

Sorry to sound harsh. I think you people should seriously worry about your reputation.

We and many like us have spent money and bought this Backup exec 2012 software which is useless for full installation on Windows 2012 server - which has come to market 2 years back. Even after many months there is no committment from your side to your own product staying relevant to the market.

We do not know whether or not to buy any Symantec product or renew licenses. Simply put your team has missserably failed as has your product. We have lost confidence in your capabilities.

1. I am not a Symantec employee. I am not associated with Symantec in any way other than being a TA on their forums. I've never been involved with designing the application, although I was involved in a usability study where I pointed a couple of things out.

2. My reputation will be fine though....I personally never intended to install BE 2012 (any SP) on the sites I used to look after due to the numerous issues experienced. That was my personal choice, and I've mentioned staying on BE 2010 R3 multiple times since BE 2012 was released. It was only ever a recommendation to upgrade (with careful consideration being mentioned to the vast differences between any previous version and BE 2012) if a previous version never supported an OS/application being backed up.

As I mentioned in my first post...your questions on this will most likely be answered on the Beta site...I can't do much else than point you in that direction.

Hi Craig,

My sincere apologies. Did not realize that you are not from Symantec supoort staff.

Received an update from Mr.Siddhart Saini of Symantec. I hope they give a working upgradable solution before the supoort period expires with out using the product!

Hello Manoj,

I just wanted to let you know that Backup Exec 2014(which supports full installation of Backup Exec 2014 Media Server on a Windows Server 2012) is in the second stage of Beta Testing. It would be out soon. In the mean time, if you could install Backup Exec 2012(on a Windows Server 2008 R2) then we could install an Agent for Windows(AWS) on all your servers with Windows Server 2012 and perform backups/restores.

I appreciate your patience and I assure you that Backup Exec 2014 would meet all your needs related to backups/restores of/to Windows Server 2012.

Dear Mr.Siddhant,

Thanks for your update. After a long time somebody is confirming the status.

We had taken BE 2012 in August 2013. Will your new release come soon before support renewal date? As of now this is in safe custody, lying useless!!!

We have all Windows 7 PCs and one Win 2012 Std 64 bit server. This is the only production server and management is not allowing it to be downgraded just for the sake of Backup Exec 2012.

Hello Manoj,

I understand your situation. At this moment no one from our team would be in a situation to give you the precise release date of Backup Exec 2014. As far as your licenses are concerned, I'd suggest that you either speak to your reseller/partner or contact the Symantec Licensing Team (refer to http://www.symantec.com/support/assistance_care.jsp ) and check with them if they could do something about it. Alternatively, you could contact some Symantec Employees who have talked about it in the following forums. Probably they could address your concerns about licensing:
