In the Syamntec forum, When we get into the member profile, to the right we have the contribution stat numbers should be in the form of hyperlinks and when clicked it should lead to the specifics.

For example, under the Contribution stats, count of "Solutions" should be a hyperlink and when clicked it should show all the solutiuons posted by that person till date.

This will help enthuiasts to follow certain senior board members and read their solutions time to time to enhance their knowledge.

Hope this will help spreading in more knowledge !!!

...I have over 1600 solutions, Marianne has over 2000, and there are other people with over 1000. How is this ever going to work? You're going to have pages and pages of links!

Thanks!

may be this is the way what i believe...

bottom of each user profile  there is  a place where it showes the activity of the user.but only recent ...and that may be related to one or few posts..

and if the hyper link for the solutions is enabled.. in the user activitys space it will only list the discussion that are maked as soultioins for that specifc user.

what way its going to help?

1) sometime in user life, ther is a situation user looking for an solution for the issue and he remeber that its been solved by (marianne, CraigV,Martin,Mark_solution.... etc...)  few days ago.. when the user was browsig the connect...

but now when the user need the same solution for referrence/to solve the issue....  even though user know someone(marianne, CraigV,Martin,Mark_solution.... etc...)  solved the same type of issue...its deficult to find..as their solutions does not have hyperlinks

2) there are lot of user (like me) how is spending the time on connect to increase their skills, reading the expert solutions would definatly help them.

Regards

Nagalla

...but TAs don't answer all the questions or get all the answers, so this would be a moot point. I personally wouldn't like all my solutions exposed either.

There is a search function on Connect which is better suited for this, which doesn't need extra coding. It works well, and does the job.

Thanks!

Each of the stalwarts Marianne, Martin, Mark_solution, Nagalla, Andy & other NBU experts are profecient at NBU but each of them have some unquie capabilities like Marianne on DB related solutions, Martin on Tape HW/Media related things, Nagalla on VM related stuff, supply enormous information in their solutions.

If somebody like me, a new entrant wants to read through previous solutions of these experts and on specific topics to sharpen skills on those selected areas, then this feature can readily cater the audience with huge amount of data and information.

...still don't agree, and not sure I want this as it is a little bit more information from my profile that I want revealed.

Simply do this: Go to the forum you want, type in the TA/Admin's name you want, and then when it returns results, filter by Solved. Problem solved. No additional coding required for something that 2 or 3 people would need.

Thanks!

Not sure how this is going to help anyone...

LOL! I am sometimes battling to find my own posts when I know that a particular topic has been discussed previously.

I am normally battling to find anything using the Connect search engine. I use Google as follows:

site:symantec.com netbackup whatever search criteria

This method will find forum posts as well as TNs.
(now I have given away the secret to my high solution rate! wink )

I am pleased that we got an opportunity to learn from your experience in Backup arena by reading your posts.

If it is implemented it is just a click away...it will ease up our battles wink at some extent

...you realise some people might not actually like this? I definitely wouldn't as I don't share much of my profile to anyone.

Something you need to consider when posting ideas.

Thanks!

"Interacting with an Intellectual person is equal to reading 1000 books"..

You are all doing a great job by sharing your knowledge.

I thought TA's solutions will be more reachable with the hyperlink but dint think in all the directions ....Point taken Criag.

Now that also I got to know the criteria to be used for the search, will take that route.

Thanks all for your inputs and valuble sugestions.
