I think the title speaks for itself.
The actual MOM 2005 backward compatible mp for EV is not really useful. It only has rules based on event logs generated by EV. When an error condition is no longer true, SCOM will continue to show the error alert on the console as nothing can remove it dynamically.
We need Monitors that will verify every aspect of our EV server's health in real-time and properly show its status in an Enterprise Vault Server State view. It should also have Views for Discovery Inventory, Alerts, Performance counters and include synthetic tests for archiving and restoring emails.
please remember to vote that you agree with the idea

you already have my vote
I vote for, too.
I just imported the converted MP into SCOM R2. Just recently upgraded to EV9. The converted MP does not work at all. Just so happens I still have MOM 2005 on my servers so I still get alerts from it. But the rules don't even work in SCOM.
EV 9.0.2 should have fixed all our known issues with the converted MOM pack, no new additional feature in this pack but we have fixed some identified installation and configuration issues which appeared in certain environments.
We are investigating creating a native SCOM 2007 management pack in a future release, it would be great to hear what are your top 10 wish list for SCOM monitors.
Vault Store size predictions over 3/6/12 months for capacity planning
Vault usage by attachment type (Mailbox Vault)
Orphaned PST sizes report
Per-Archive size increase, for any that may have excessive growth
what I had in mind where along the lines of critical system notifications such as:
1. ev services start and stop
2. ev tasks start, running, processing, stopped, archiving paused for 10 minutes due to errors, etc
3. if vault stores and indexes are in backup mode when they shouldnt be
4. low disk space and status for all partitions and index locations
5. failed / offline / rebuilding indexes
Not all EV specialists are expers in MOM/SCOM. In addition, EV administrators aren't either.
Unfortunately there is little information out on this, what works and what doesn't, what is monitored and how the EV sytems are best configured within SCOM. A "Best practices" guide would be very helpful.
In addition, the "converted" MP in 2007 doesn't show a "monitorign view" (no monitors), where all events from various EV servers are displayed in a consolidated view. This needs to be added.
thank you very much to the EV product management team for listening to the community and investing in better monitoring for EV via SCOM
