Install Readiness Checks do not check for the File Services Role or the status of the Server service

Dear Symantec,

I have just done an installation of SMP 7.1 SP2 where the Install Readiness Checks PASSED, but the installation FAILED!

When I worked out what the problem was (the installer could not create the NSCap share), I found that the File Services Role was not installed. I installed this role and tried again.

Again, the IRCs PASSED, but the installation FAILED!

I discovered that the Server service was disabled and shut down. Once I enabled the Server service and started it, I tried again ad the installation worked.

Admittedly, this is probably a rare issue, but if the server is not ready, shouldn't the IRCs fail?

So, can we please have an IRC that checks to see if the File Services Role is installed and the Server service is started?

Kindest regards,

QuietLeni
