NetBackup Policies - field to add a Comment/Notes viewable in the GUI
Created: 03 Aug 2012 | 5 comments
A nice to have, and to supplement good documentation for auditing about policies, would be the ability to add a comment or note to a NetBackup Policy that would be viewable in the Administration Console GUI's.
I am aware there is a auditing tracking at the command level. But something more visible in the Admin Console.
This could assist describing a policy that has exclude lists or specific reasons for why this policy is implemented.

I think Bob was after something similar quite a while back - just little notes that you could add/delete etc at policy level as to why a backup is done 'this way', why that policy is deactivated etc etc etc
Similar notes at a client level could also be very useful.

Actually "In Review" apparently. Hmmm.....

Thanks for the pointer. Well if Bob has asked in the past, must have been taken note of then!
Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.

Well it certainly got a lot of votes relatively speaking but it's from nearly 30 months ago - think I might try to shake the dust off it!

Hi All,
We are looking something we can extract the whole Netbackup Policy details in a excel file.
This will help us during the Audit and day to day task.

Don't envy you *that* task - there is an *awful* lot of information in even the most simplest of policies & as soon as you start to add schedules then the amount of information can be overwhelming.
Have a look at the output from bppllist for one of your policies .....
DOCUMENTATION: What do entries in the 'bppllist <policy> -l' command indicate?
