Case 04421714 - Merging Index Volumes

Some of our index volumes has only one item( 1-1) which is 1st index volume of the journal archive. Understand from TSE, we need to rebuild the whole archive in order to remove this volume. But this archive has millions of emails, which is not possbile.

The idea is to add a option in EV to merge or combine the index volumes. Thanks.

huan, i'm curious to understand what issue does this resolve or how does it help improve the EV environment?

there are lots of index volumes( for journal archives) with only  1 or very few indexed items, i know there is no import on the search, but when looking at the index volume browser, user may question us.

in what situation would a user be looking at the index volume browser. also, what version of EV are you on?

I believe the only real benefit of this would be to tidy up the Index Volumes to begin with and also to possibly help with searches, if there are many index volumes to one Journal Archive then we are talking about searching across multiple index volumes for emails rather than just searching across possibly 3. (Example)

I can see where the this function would come in handy but I am unsure as to just how possible it is.
