Please update the documentation to reflect requirements for enabling IIS Permissions
Created: 14 Jan 2013 | 6 comments
Dear Symantec,
If I look at the latest copy of the Service Desk Implementation Guide, I see, on page 99, element 5, that I need to run the aspnet_regiis.exe to enable the permissions of the Service Desk Service Account for IIS:
However, when I look through the Workflow install.log, I see that this process is already run during the installation:
Register IIS account. CMD: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -ga "domain\ServiceDeskUser"
Can the documentation be fixed to reflect that this is not needed any more?
Kindest regards,
QuietLeni

CNWilliams,
Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. However, I just re-downloaded the document from that same URL and found that the the sections are still there?!

Hi QuietLeni,
Can you please check to see if you browser has cached a previous version of the Implementation Guide.
When I cleared the cache of my browser, I was able to get the version republished today.

CNWilliams,
I just re-downloaded the document in IE and it was still there. I cleared the cache and then tried again. It was still there. Then I tried using Chrome (which I use rarely) and it was still there.
I was using the URL:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5722
and the document URL of:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/resources/sites/BUSINESS/content/live/DOCUMENTATION/5000/DOC5722/en_US/ServiceDesk_implementation_guide.pdf
Hmmm.

QuietLeni,
Funny, the KB Article Installing SQL Server support components on the ServiceDesk server
(http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO82186) was published with out any problems yesterday, and the publication date under the Implemenation Guide was Jan 14, 2013.
Just to be safe and to make sure that there wasn't some glitch in the system, I republished the Symantec ServiceDesk 7.5 Implementation Guide again this morning http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5722 and was able to open it.
Please give it another try.
