I have used SMSE for several years and in my experience sometimes you have to do manual update, due to several reasons not just that the "live update" does not work.

Know after we got upgraded to the latest version it is not possible to do a manual update, yes I have tried the tech91371, but still it did not work.

There are times that the SMS server does not have internet and you have to do manual update ..........

So I have a formal wish that Symantec could provide all their customers using the 64 bit edition of sms for Exchange  the same possibility to upgrade their virus definition files.

What do you mean by 'manual update'?

Have you checked whether LiveUpdateAdministrator can help you? Especially when Exchange Servers dont have Internet connection they could receive the defs from an internal LiveUpdate Server.

Hope this helps

This is the situation: We are using windows SBS 2011 with sms for Exchange installed. On the same server there are also installed SEP12.1 RU1. UNMANAGED,  and system Recovery 2013 server Edition. So I have no internal live update server.

The live update prosess worked fine until 22. mai 2013 then the live update for SMSE would not update.

So, before when I used the 32bit versiom of SMSE, and the same issue occured, I just downloaded the manual update thru http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH91371.

But this does not work for the 64 bit edition. I have tried to use the command symcdefsi32.exe /extract "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Definitions\SymcData\virusdefs32\incoming"

Tried also to run the command without the (") same result. I see that there is a 64 bit intelligent updatebut it does not seem to support sms for exchange.....

error when running command inteligent updater.png
