Symantec Support,
Requesting for an enhancement for the virus definition update to reduce the current size which is 200MB per full virus definition to reduced package.
The current size is too huge for a client for downloads which may cause potential network issues when downloading 200MB over the network. A reduced size would help the organization to minimize impact to the business operations.

Please note the size of the virus definitions depends on the amount of virus signatures contained within - the more signature = the more protection against threats. This size is increasing constantly as there are more and more new threat signatures included in it. Reducing the size would mean reducing the protection for the clients.
Only possibility would be using a differnt compression method - but this is something not really depending on Symantec - full packages are being distributed in the moment using .zip format.
The only suggestion I would have would be to cut down the number of versions saved. It's in a policy.
We are working on reducing the size of the definition files.
