In case of archive deletion, if you want to restore only a message for example, now you must restore whole enterprise vault platform. It would be more efficient , restore the sql database into another, identify which is the archive file and restore only this file from backup. Then , open the archive DVS.

There is talk of adding the ability to recover deleted archives in a future version of Enterprise Vault. That would be fit the bill here, too, right?
Many Thanks,

PS I hope that the post proves helpful.
Is the use case restoring an individual message from an archive that has been deleted by mistake or deleted on purpose but now you'd like to get something back?
So would a deleted archive dumpster work (i.e. keep the archive for a set time in the system after a delete)
Not being able to restore a individual item is very painfull if you're obligated by regulatory reasons to maintain info for a few years. This means that you have to disable the possibility of users deleting archive itens so by consequence your archive vault grows big time and very fast. This impacts on disk space usage, backups time and backup space used. Bottow line, you lose some of the benefits of EV, like less space usage and faster backups.
And let's not forget about file server individual item recovery.
A deleted Archive Dumpster to me is a glaring need. I'm paying a VAR to write a custom app just to handle removing archives for us. We have to wait 60 days after a user leaves before we can remove an archive so a soft delete on day 1 with a 60 day retention would save us a lot of headaches and the need to have a custom application/process. In older versions of EV we had administrators accidentally delete an archive whilst cleaning up orphans which required a system restore to recover the missing data. With the single instance storage model in place in EV10 that scenario is almost resume generating.
