SD 7.5: Additional Automation Rules Options
Created: 12 Nov 2012 | 3 comments
Don't get me wrong, the addition of automation rules in Process Manager are a huge improvement but they could be better.
1) More process options should be routable. I'm not sure why Type was left out from the list of options to be able to automate on, that should be added.
2) When choosing Classification, it would be nice to have the hierarchy create itself, just like when submitting an incident. Trying to guess the format will be troublesome for most I would imagine. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't seem to get the correct format for routing.

More over, what are the interest of a solution connected to a customizable CMDB, if we are not able to use this for extended routing rules, like: all incident user's location X, must route this queue Y...
Can't be done using SD 7.5 ???

Unless I'm misunderstanding, that can be done in sd 7.5...
if location not set then set location to affected user's location
if location is specific location X then route to queue Y
Location entry box in rule builder will draw from CMDB as you type but on first connection it may take some time and there is no visual indicator on-screen that it's working but after you type (i think) 3 characters, it begins searching.
Classification has also been left out of the automation rules. I can perhaps understand why it was due to custom hierarchy being built by the customer but being able to set classification based on Title or something to that effect would be great to do automatically as well.
