Support for DLO agent for Outlook 2010 (32 bit and 64 bit) in Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit) environment
Hello,
We are planning to deploy Windows 7 (64 bit) with Outlook 2010 (32/64 bit) on new laptops as part of our hardware refresh cycle. Our current user environment includes Windows XP SP2 (32 bit) with Outlook 2003/2007 (32 bit). We are currently using Backup Exec 2010 R2 with Desktop Laptop Option (DLO) agent for backup of user data. We have deployed Windows 7(64 bit) with Outlook 2010 (64 bit) on one user (as part of testing) and found following issues:
Issue 1: Error message for Outlook 2010 as not being current mail client:
I have verified that Outlook 2010 is the default mail client and also followed Microsoft suggestion as per KB article 813745. However, the user is still getting this error message during system startup. The user has Outlook 2010 (64 bit) on Windows 7 (64 bit) installed on their PC. This is not the case for Outlook 2007 (32 bit) users in Windows XP (32 bit).
Issue 2: Cannot open PST files on a random basis:
The user is not able to open one of the personal folders on a random basis. The workaround is to close Outlook 2010 and DLO agent and then start these applications again in the same order.
It seems Symantec does not support DLO agent for Outlook 2010 as per article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH136247
Can anyone please help me with this situation?
Thanks,
Robin.

The reason why you receive that message is because Outlook 2010 64-bit is unsupported for incremental backups of the PST file.
If you disable this as per: http://symantec.com/docs/TECH180607
Let me know if this helps.
