Include the full message contents of the vault cache in Windows Indexing searches.

See cases 04468707 and 04320745 and and the below detail from http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO84085

Windows Search (WS):

Windows Search can be configured to index the Vault Cache including both the Content & Header Cache (MDC) to provide a single search solution for finding a users data across the local file system, Outlook cache (OST) and EV archive.

As Windows Search is searching in both the Content Header Cache (MDC), Windows Search will be able locate data within both archived email content and attachment content.

Which seem to be inconsitent.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think you're pointing out the difference between how Outlook Instant Search (OIS) indexes the contents of Vault Cache vs Windows Search. There are no immediate plans to address the difference between the two methods. Windows Search provides a full fidelity search against all cached items in Vault Cache should such a search be necessary. OIS provides a metadata based search against all cached items which in many cases is sufficient for many Outlook searching use cases.

Thanks for your comment Alex.

Please see open case 04468707 for more details. Windows Search does not search the full content of the vault cache only the header data in our environment.

Support seem unable to confirm if Windows Search includes full content even after I provided links to Symantec support articles confirming it. Support suggested I log an "Idea".
