I recently ran into a user who's header synchronization failed, the user had over 5058 emails waiting to archive in the virtual vault. After working with Technical support the .mdc file was found to be corrupted. It would be great if there was a tool that could repair the .mdc file to fix any corrputed virtual vault files.

I take it you are aware that it is a PST file, and that you can rename it to filename.PST, and then run SCANPST on it?

That didn't work. I renamed the file to .pst ran the repair and changed it back to .mdc. Virtual Vault would not recognize or initialize after the repair.

With the repaired PST, connect it to outlook and see if it will open, you should be able to at least get the items that have not been uploaded so you have no data loss

Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried the partial reset capability in the EV client? This will allow you to rebuild just the header cache leaving the content cache as-is.

Virtual Vault actually does already do quite a lot of internal checking during build and operation and so while we have not discounted any additional work in this area, for now there is no further enhancement to this operation planned.
