Backup Exec selection list hangs when attempting to establish an SSL trust with a remote server.
Created: 12 Jul 2011 | Updated: 11 Feb 2013 | 7 comments
Backup Exec Admin Console goes into a "Not Responding" state after attempting to establish a trust with a remote server.
A connection request is sent from the media server and received by the remote, but the connection open reply is not received by the media server from the remote.
This causes the hang in the UI.

Did this get resolved, we are now completing a migration and hit this with one server.
You might check the Backup Exec Remote Agent Utility security tab to see if there are media servers listed that are stale.
Remove any un-needed media servers and attempt to re-trust the server.

Tried that already... Server is trusted by the CAS and the two Media Servers.
Interestingly, this is a Windows 2003 cluster, SQL 2005 SP2 using mount points - it maybe trying to browse the mountpoints that could be the issue.
That said, we have 2008R2 SQL clusters migrated fine!
Start a new forum post on it. This doesn't sound like the same issue.

Hi,
I am new to Symantec Backup Exec. We have installed Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 and pushed agents to our Windows servers.
We are trying to set up backup jobs, but when selecting any server from list console hangs. We can only expand local server where Backup Exec is installed.
And also all remote servers show yellow exclamation pointer in the selection list.
Is this the same issue?
Thanks,
Peteris
Peteriss -
Thank you for your reply.
Open a new backup, right click a remote server, and select "Establish trust relationship" from the context menu.
Refer to this document for enabling and troubleshooting assistance.

If the document does not assist with the issue, I would suggest making a support case.
