same issue! cannot unistall BUexec V9 agent. Now am missing a huge backup window!
Will open a case asap!

I cannot believe that this issue is just left as "Under Investigation".
Not being able to install a remote agent, to back up a server, to me is a MAJOR issue. Why even haven backup exec if you can't install the agent to complete a proper backup.
Ridiculous.
On a side note, I had the same issue. Fixed it by downloading Windows Install cleanup Utility. Went through the list and removed everything symantec backup exec remote agent related.
The install went fine straight after that.
