During a restore from a backup set the was encrypted and spanned multiple media the restore job may fail with the error "0xe00084ca - The data being read from the media is inconsistent."

Environment
 

Backup Exec 2010 with Encrypted duplicate backup sets that span multiple pieces of media.

Restoring data from the duplicate set that resides on the continuation media.

Cause
 

Unable to restore from Encrypted Duplicate Sets if the media is spanned. Final error: 0xe00084ca - The data being read from the media is inconsistent. Final error category: Backup Media Errors

Individual selections from the set that reside on the first media will restore successfully. The problem is when individual selections from the set reside on the continuation media

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2010 R3
