Problem

On a 2-node Windows 2008 R2 cluster, Symantec System Recovery (SSR) 2011 is unable to enumerate any volumes.

Error

GetCSVolumes: Error 2 querying cluster value.

Error ERROR_UNKNOWN_EXCEPTION (EBAB001A): An unknown exception has occurred at .\SmeCommon.cpp 485.
(UMI:V-*-2987-26)

The above errors are seen in SMEDump.txt (when logs are collected as per: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH54539). To confirm you are seeing the same issue, run SmeDump.exe (from \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec System Recovery\Utility) and then review debug.txt which is created in the same folder.

The following errors are seen when accessing the SSR user interface:

Solution

At the time of writing the only possible (unconfirmed) workaround is to perform a cold backup via the Symantec Recovery Disk (SRD).
