I'm working on an SVS frontend that's going to support Groups/Categories for layers, to be able to manage them more efficiently.
Groups like Audio Apps, Video Apps, File-Sharing etc. would IMHO be better than keeping all layers in one big bucket.
I've already started working on it and it has started to acquire its basic form, in case some product already exists that provides this functionality then please let me know. I'd be re-inventing the wheel otherwise. :)
Ideas/Suggestions are welcome!

You might want to check out Groupy.
It may be something you could use instead of writing your own tool or it may be a source of inspiration.

I missed it earlier but thanks for pointing me to Groupy. Though this isn't something I've on my mind for my tool.
It'll be a GUI like SVS Admin and have keybd shortcuts for faster operations.
What I'm making will directly interact with svscmd.exe and not with SVS admin tool.
Also, configuring it will be a lot easier than Groupy (I hope!).
I'll post a working initial release soon.

Command Line
Would be nice to have some command line inputs for the tool. Everyone seems to forget the old-timers and thier command line imports!

Isn't svscmd.exe good enough for cmd line usage? I feel its a very well-documented and versatile tool for this purpose. Not many applications can show that!
Update: my application is coming along great. I'll be posting it in a day or 2 max.

I don't know in which language you develop it, but if it is in VB6 I can help you with tips and tricks, maybe some source code too.
Even without that I might be able to help you with ideas.
And maybe we could work out some compatibility between your application and the Alternate Admin Console.
