I just installed pcanywhere 12.5 on my system running windows xp professional in order for my accountant to access my comp. from his office. He has DSL and I have satelitte without a fixed IP address. I just can't get it to work. Do I have to open a port? any step by step help would be appreciated. This is my first time :-)

Thank you!

www.portforward.com is the portforwarding authority.   They have thousands of hardware vendors listed and as many applications listed with step by step instructions.

You do have to open a port for your accountant to connect to you.   You don't have to have a fixed IP but it helps.   You will need to give your accountant the current IP each time they need to connect, or you will need to set up a third party tool like dynip.com to allow your accountant to connec to a domain name that points to your system no matter what IP your satelite has.

cheers.
