For this to work, use a policy based backup. In the policy make a template for Full and Differential and then associate the policy to a Selection list. It should work.

The user is using BE 2010 or earlier.  A policy is not required to do full and differential backup.

Are you sure it is fine if I do it via your suggestion? The policy and use backup wizard is different?

Where is this test folder located?  If it is on a NAS/server which does not have a remote agent loaded, then any incremental/differential backup will be backed up as a full backup.

To do this test properly, use a test folder in Windows.

The test folder is located on Windows 2008 R2, the backupexec remote agent had been installed on it.

Since you are using the modified time method, did your full and differential backup jobs use the same selection list?  For your differential backup job, you cannot just select the same object.  You must use the same selection list by using the dropdown list, like below.

If you do not use the same selection list, then your differential backup has no baseline reference and will do a full backup.
