Console Error  Unexpected server error.  0x10010000 I get the above error whenever I try to do pretty much anything on both my SEPM systems. I have rebooted both and have also followed a KB article about reconfiguring the Manager.  Howerver, nothing is working.  We are being slammed by a trojan of some kind today that has taken over pretty much every XP box and a lot of my Windows 2003 boxes.  So far Vista and Windows 7 have not been touched. I need to configure a different type of scan but can't!!!! Kris

Endpoint Protection 11.0.5002.333 failed to even find (much less fix) the Sheur2 trojan. AVG did find and fix it.

We have a large organization and we are looking at the possible upgrade from SAV10 to SEP. If we move forward with SEP we could possibly have 50 to 100 different limited administrators around the world. It will be a PITA to add each one by AD username. Instead we would like to use Active Directory groups. Is this possible?

without having to constantly check the website, is there any mechanism to sign up an email address so that I can be notified whenever a new Certified Definition is released ( for SEP 11x in my case ) Thanks

We have a mixed Novell & Microsoft environment. Alot of computers. Close to 3500 if not more on two SEPM's and couple GUP'S for smaller sites. I checked out a Novell computer in one of my SEPM groups. I go to the 'General' tab. I checked out the entry for 'Domain or Workgroup'. What I saw was the DNS suffix. I should have seen the workgroup name since all Novell computers are in there. I then proceed to look at a MS computer. Again I saw the DNS suffix as opposed to the domain name. Is this a known bug? Because of how many computers we have it would be helpful to know which belong to a domain and which belong to a workgroup.

11.0.4202 is running on my PC and I noticed that my proactive threat defs are not updating. How can I fix this? Also, how do I know that other computers on my network are not having the same issue? When I look in the manager console I don't see a way to verify that all the clients on my network have the latest proactive threat defs. Is there a way to monitor this? When I pull up the Truscan threat protection distribution page it has no data in it.

Hello everyone. I need your help. I created a policy in my SEP in photo, to the exclusion of the dababase of SQL, by inserting these types of database files extensions                                               I would like to do similarly policiy exclusion of databases of ORACLE, but I can't find these database extensions. Someone them can provide me? Thank you.

I am having and issue with XP 32bit and Win Svr 2008 64bit systems both running 11.0.5002.333.  This server is used only for file sharing.  When an XP machine tries to browse the shares they get to watch the flashlight for about one minute and then the files eventually are presented to the user.  However, when I tested this with a Win 7 64bit running the same version there were no problems viewing these files.  After uninstalling SEP from the server the XP users have no problems viewing these shares.  Everything was fine until this week.  Anybody else having this problem?

We have a company where there are at least 25 sites, and not ALL newly imaged machines are going to be in the same place. I will list 4 sites. New York Los Angeles Houston Chicago. I don't want them ALL on the same site, what I want is for them to report to their OWN GUP server. What do I need to do to get Chicago clients to point to Chicago GUP's New York to New York and so forth... The machines will come here and Iwant to have these machines with SEP already installed. I have a package, but it will point them to a specific group. ALL of them wiill default to the New York group based on the package, what I want to do is to divide them accordingly, and report to their servers when they get to their respective sites. The GUP's are not in place yet, but when they are, I want the clients to point to them. What is the best approach to  take at this time?

Hello, I am considering upgrading from our current MR4 installation to RU5 soon and was wondering if there are any consistant issues I should be aware of.  I did a quick search of the forum and found several people had issues, but I am more interested in things that everyone has been experiencing either during the upgrade process or as a result of the upgrade process.  I am hesitant to upgrade as SEP as we have it is the most stable is has been since we switched and I would rather not introduce new problems into the enviroment.  Supposedly there are some fixes in the previous MP updates as well as RU5 that should fix the remaining issues we have been experiencing with the product. I am eager to get feedback from the members. Thanks.

I recognized something strange, which has been quite confusing for some of our customers. Actually the current version von Endpoint Protection (11 RU5) is published with two different version numbers. The packages, you receive through LiveUpdate are listed as 11.0.5002.0 in the Endpoint Protection Manager, but packages you create from other sources, e.g. downloads from Symantec’s fileconnect , are listed as 11.0.5002.333.   This fact makes it possible to import both versions into the Manager, if you received the packages through LiveUpdate onto your MR4 system and then upgrade it to RU5. After that you will see that four packages with the mentioned two different version numbers get listed under “install packages”. Now, if you install the package with number 11.0.5002.0 onto a client, it gets actually also listed as installed version 11.0.5002.333. So the whole issue is just wrong information in the Manager, which the software cannot handle.   The problem is...

My organisation uses virtual machines that host several servers on each machine. As far as we've been led to believe, only the host machine needs SEP installed; the virtual ones will be protected by that as well. Is this the case or should we be installing SEP on every virtual machine and the host server? (I seriously hope not as the performance hit would be immense) Thanks in advance Gill

Hi, So, we have our LU policy, specifiying multple GUP's (by name), this policy is linked to the generic desktop group - cxlients are currently on 3 different sites. We have another test office - I have added the nominated GUP to the list of servernames on Rule 1. I then rolled out the SEP client. Since doing so, none of the clients have updated their defs (been a week now) - my guess is its trying to get from GUP and can't, as when  we roll clients out to sites with no GUPs (for testing) they get their update from SEPM fairly quickly and stay up to date. What should I check?  Any ideas?  Read it may work better putting an IP address isntead of name, but any tools I can use? Thanks
