Does anyone know if it is possible to generate this page as a report and if so how? The page I am referring to is this: settings > global settings > agent configuration > show all agent status > click on the particular agent > then click on "show agent summary"

After using this for a few months now, I would like to see a button on the agent status page to re-poll all the data collectors at one time. This would make it really easy to poll all the data collectors at one time (after fixing problems or what ever reason you need) than going through each data collector and clicking the poll button. Thanks

I have a new install of VBR 6.6.0 and I can't seem to get a NetBackup agent module to collect data from my master server. Has anyone encountered similar issues? Setup is as below: Server A is the VBR Server (W2K3) Server B is a NBU 6.5.4 media server with VBR 6.6.0 agent installed (W2K3) Server C is the NBU 6.5.4 master server (HP-UX) I've set everything up as per the documentation with server B running the agent module to collect the data from server C for VBR server A. No data collection is taking place and none of the logs on Server A or Server B tell me anything of any use. The extraxt below from a server B logfile appears to show that the collection starts but nothing further. I checked the bpjobd log on server C but nothing showed up there: 2009/11/11 09:23:37 GMT agent.module.2 pool-1-thread-2 CONFIG NetBackupAgentModule.initialize(AgentModuleConfiguration) Using bpdbjobs... 2009/11/11 09:23:37 GMT agent.module.2 pool-1-thread-2 FINER AgentModuleConfiguration.getNamedValue...

To everyone who has been bold enough to embark in using the wonderful time saving product that is Backup Reporter, I salute you. This article goes out to those individuals who are brave and do not step back in times of adversity, those of us who have implemented Backup Reporter know what we are talking about here. The installation procedures for this product, however large and integral to proceedings, do not mention some of the known bugs with the features of the application which of course create added complications to the novice administrators out there. So what better than a few hints and tips to help out the masses. Hint 1 - Low Maintenance Installation 1) Do not install View Builder on any other server than the server housing the VBRServer, as this complicates the maintenance and can corrupt your database. Hint 2 - Maintaining a full list of servers  1)      Install VBR & View builder 2)      Create a single view called ‘all_servers...

Hi All, On the weekend Daylight Saving Time begin. Since then all of our reports have been coming in an hour later, the VBR server time has changed to Daylight Saving Time. I am guessing VBR has been coded to use UTC/GMT. We run approx 50 schedules and are adding more all the time, so manually changing them every six months is not ideal in our situation. 1. Has anyone else experienced this at all? 2. Is there an easier way I could change these, maybe via SQL Query or something? Thanks, Craig

Good idea or bad?  I've been reading what documentation I can find and I read it's ok for the VBR Agent to be installed on the NBU Master/Media. I haven't read anything that says whether or not the Management Server can be installed on the same server as an NBU Master/Media. Anyone have any advice?   Thanks

I am trying to think creative on a Monday morning and am quiet happy to get this phrase in my mind.."JUST ONE WORD". Yeah...it's my call-out for the most you can say about a Symante'c Backup & Archiving product with just ONE happy word. For example: "Enterprise Vault is Execeptional Vault". Just shout back on this thread, as we can continue to witness the wonderful "one word" stories about our favourite products :-).

Hi All, We are being asked to create a report using vbr 6.60 and we wish to use a modified attribute to formulate the report. However, it would be nice to be able to write it in SQL. \ However, does anyone know where we can get a copy of the VBR database schema? or the SQL query command to display it. This would help us out considerably. Thanks Trevor

Hi I was wondering if there was a way in which to produce a report to signify which servers are Virtual and which are physical? We currently have 79 Netbackup client agents to backup. Our manager know about the way the licensing works for Netbackup, so they have asked us for a report to show the amount of physical and virtual servers we backup in a monthly report. We were initially struck by the following link:  http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/311758.htm This report pulls from the fields within the database, but does not show any data in the fields. Now we have not implemented the VCB proxy as of yet, but wondered if there is indeed a back to differentiate between physical and virtual servers. Sorry for the complex request (they always seem to be from me these days!!) Thanks Trevor

Object merging should not be restricted even if certain fields are not populated. We have so many servers that may  have multiple names since the backup NIC maybe defined with -bk and the actual server name does not. In addition when we discover servers, we opted not to qualify with DNS. Thus, most of the nodes in VBR do not have an IP address defined. It adds extra steps to update the attributes for 2 servers being merged.

Report sorting is case-sensitive, which sorts client names starting with uppercase first. For example, "Z" comes before "a". It also sorts numbers based on the value of the first character instead of the number's total value. For example, "71" comes before "196" because "7" is greater than "1". This makes for some very hard to read reports. It would be great to have an option to change the way sorting works per field.

I have recently installed VBR 6.6. and with the View Builder some of the objects show "Other" instead of specific directories or drive letters. I have Breakup Job enabled on the VBR Data Collecter. Does anyone have an idea of how to get this reporting correctly?

Evaluating VBR 6.6 and I am unable to pull reports from my BE 12.5 servers after building the data connectors. All  settings are correct in the agent configuration, My agent reports a Good heartbeat from the server running 12.5 but I keep getting error codes 4011, 4012, 4013 and 4014.  The resons for the codes are out of tune as I typically get these 40xx codes when the username and password in the connector are incorrect or the account does not have admin rights on the server VBR is trying to query the data from. However, All of these settings are correct and have been verified numerous times both on the BE 12.5 server and within the VBR agennt connector.  I am pulling reports from BE 9.1 servers with no issues and the product works good on theses. My configuration: VBR Host running on a standalone server BE 12.5 installed on a test server. BE 12.5 not installed in the default path.  Change the Default path from the C: to D: for the BE 12.5...

Hi, I have a client in Netbackup Reporter that has 2 IP addresses associated with it. The 1st IP is the correct one, but the second IP refers to another NBU Client. As the IP address is associated with the other client,  the client that references IP address 2 doesn't show up in Veritas Backup Reporter. How do I go about removing the client that is referencing the IP address of the other server? Or removing that IP from the Host properties of that client and letting backup reporter "rediscover" the other client. Regards pdaemon

I have a Solaris 10 x_86 64bit machine that is my Master server. I am looking for a way to pull the information onto my VBR server for reporting purposes. I have been able to configure a Sparc Master server in another office, but the x_86 box is giving me trouble. Thanks in advance, Rob

“Standardisation is the ability for organisations to leverage a single layer of infrastructure software across their entire data centre that reduces IT complexity, protects information and applications, improves manageability and control of cross-platform storage and server assets, and drives down operational costs.” The data centre is the beating heart of the enterprise and the IT infrastructure is on a journey to somewhere, but it is on a collision course with disaster if it cannot prevent its slide into chaos isn’t halted before it’s pulled into the abyss. We no longer feel in control of the destiny of our creation but at the beck and call of the latest technology that is going to solve all our problems. Doesn't it always seem that every step one takes is at the behest of a bit of tin? And that’s never the end of it, there’s always something else you need, another server here and other network there. This isn’t chaos created by our...
