Overview Storage Foundation HA 5.1 introduces keyless feature enablement. The primary objective of keyless is to improve the customer experience with Storage Foundation HA (SFHA) and make it easier to deploy, manage and use our products. Note that a customer continues to be required to have valid licenses for the product he/she is running. Entitlement does not change in 5.1 Review the information provided below as well as the attached pdf to learn more. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What is the advantage of using keyless versus standard licensing? Keyless simplifies the task of a system admin deploying SFHA in a production environment. It also results in better overall system availability in a production environment by removing the need for temporary license keys. Before 5.1, license keys were required for SFHA to be functional on a host. If at time of deployment, a system admin didn't have the appropriate key handy (which can happen for a variety of reasons), he...

Prelude Initially, I wrote this about Backup Exec, because that's where I ran into this problem. I'm also a SAV & SEP veteran but don't recall seeing this heinous language in their KB articles. So maybe it's a Veritas thing. But, whatever... ...then it occurred to me that while BE may (or may not) be the only Symantec enterprise product to which the symptom applies, the cure is universal. Because it bridges a huge gap between the goals of Symantec Sales, Support, Connect, Knowledge Base, and Product Managers. So I've taken the unusual-and-hopefully-not-presumptuous step of tagging it to all available products. It is global. That kinda makes it Ideas spam, I know. Never done it before; probably never will again. Hope you can forgive me! Don Quixote Battles Symantec Two KB articles I've browsed recently contain variations on this boilerplate (emphasis mine): "There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the...

I installed SFM 2.0 agent on some Solaris 10 SPARC Oracle DB servers a couple weeks ago. SFM discovered the Oracle databases on the lightest used of them (a Sun V440) and they show up in Managing -> Applications -> Databases. However, the more heavier-used ones, also Solaris 10 SPARC, but on SunFire 6800/6900 boxes, I do not see Oracle instances displaying in SFM. Conversely, they each have an 'oraexp' process that is sucking up ~100% of one CPU on a multi-CPU box, here is the ptree output on it: 9778  /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/perl /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/mh_ctl.pl --rescan --ensure   10215 sh -c /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/mh_driver.pl --family DB --discover --hidden --     10216 /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/perl /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin/mh_driver.pl --family DB --d       10221 sh -c /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin//oraexp discover --config host_uuid={000200         10223 /opt/VRTSsfmh/bin//oraexp discover --config host_uuid={00020003-b Any...

I installed VIAS Data Collector on 15 Servers (Health Check) and it ran successfully on all of them but only on 1 of them I got back an .xml file on all the other servers I got a .log file When I try to rename the .log to .xml & try to upload the file online -- it doesnt let me saying the file is not well formatted. Please guide me here - Thanks
