Have Norton Antivirus 8.0 on desktop. Tried to remove using the Add/Remove feature. Starts to uninstall and then "hangs up." No matter what I do I cannot get the A/R feature to uninstall. So, I downloaded the remove tool from this site. It starts to run and then a screen comes up that says that Norton 8.0 is running and I need to use the A/R feature to uninstall before I can use the Norton Removal Tool. I thought the removal tool WAS for use when you couldn't use the A/R tool. I don't know what to do now.

Hi,
It could be a good idea to be able to convert symantec points with symantec products.
I know that I would love to convert my points for Norton Internet Security 2010
It could also save Symantec money because a license doesn't cost to Symantec like Amazon money costs ;)

The Connect team has been very busy the past month - I wanted to give you a quick update on what's new and what's coming next:
New Communities:
In late October we launched the new Partner community and just today we are introducing a new Developer community. You can read more about these communities by visiting their respective community landing pages. If you are a Symantec Channel partner or Developer jump in the conversation!
Faster Performance:
This week we completed a major hardware upgrade on Connect. We've essentially tripled the infrastructure supporting the service. You should see faster browsing and faster search results.
New Features:
We've tweaked dozens features on Connect, but a few notable changes are:
Updated Group landing pages
One click subscribe/unsubscribe from group email notifications
Tweaks to the email notification template
So what's next?
We're already hard at work on a number of improvements, including:
A dramatically improved...

Concerning my Norton System Works 2006 suite:
Hi, I probably should have subscribed to the forum before I made such a move, but:
I was having problems with keeping my "autoprotect" turned on, searched all over for a cure, and eventually downloaded the "uninstall" tool and uninstalled it. Upon computer reboot, Symantec page popped up with a window to reinstall it. Very helpful. However, after the reinstall and entering my product key, I have no virus software.
Not good. Any ideas?? My subscription runs out soon, and I will likely buy a 3 pc pack (wife's laptop crashed and just installed xp on it) but in the meantime, , , , , ,

I am tired of trying to contact a person at Symantec or clicking on "Help", and getting nothing but computer generated responses, that usually have nothing to do with my problem. Symantec purposely avoids supplying any Support Hotline because they want noone to ever call them with an actual problem. The program has been, for the past 10 years, seemingly better than MacAfee, or any others that I've heard of, but the Customer Service is truly LOUSY!

Below is a customized report to display the OS Name, OS Revision, Client Name, and OS build number.
This report works for both all PCs managed via Altiris, regardless of OS.
SELECT DISTINCT
T1.[OS Name] AS 'OS Name',
T1.[OS Revision] AS 'OS Revision',
T1.[Name] AS 'Name',
T1.[OS Build Number] AS 'OS Build Number',
T0.[Guid] AS 'Guid'
FROM [vResourceEx] T0
INNER JOIN [Inv_AeX_AC_Identification] T1
ON T0.[Guid] = T1.[_ResourceGuid]
WHERE (T1.[OS Revision] LIKE '%'
AND (T0.[IsManaged] = 1
AND T1.[OS Name] LIKE '%'))
With some modifications this custom report serves as an excellent base to create custom collections for software distribution. This can be accomplished by modifying the following report entries and then generating a collection from the reports SQL
WHERE (T1.[OS Revision] LIKE '%'
andT1.[OS Name] LIKE '%'
For example...
Basics, Altiris Notification Server, Endpoint Management and Virtualization, Reporting, Symantec Connect

Accourding to a IT company vendor we where recommended Symantec backup exec system recoverry, to backup our server.
Now it came to my attention, since i am basicly new to this company that they have been running a 60 day trial version.
I would like to pointout that i came to make sure all programs are working as they are intended to and legallyand for a whole lot more reasons, am just a straight forward any slackers worst nightmare. Recently we have had problems with backups in which case most of the jobs has been canceled which placed me in a software debate against the System engineer from the IT company. He said Backup exec License does not expire, however Backup exec System recovery that runs test images did expire. In my head i was thinking these two are just features of the same product which is still a 60 day Trial.
My question is, are there limitations for backup exec to why i got Job cancellation so frequent?
And are there other reasons mayb that why backups...

We are stationed in Germany with the Air Force. Unfortunately, our internet connection is so slow it drops the connection before Symantics update is finished. We have a desktop and a laptop computer. We acquire the updates on the laptop at the library, via their wireless server which is 100 times faster than our home internet. What are other options to acquire updates, i.e., can we download the update on our laptop to a thumb drive and update our desktop? We need any advise you can provide. Thanks!

When creating software deployment jobs within NS it would be great if there was a software prerequisite toolset of some sort. This toolset would allow you to specify OS and application requirements that must be present before software installations can continue.
Altiris Deployment Solution, Altiris Notification Server, Endpoint Management and Virtualization, Symantec Connect, Wise Application Packaging, Wise Installation Development

At first I was bummed out when the catalog went away boo hoo no cruise. Then I looked at Amazon and realized how sweet this deal is. I had over 25000 points so I shopped a lot which is great since I like to shop. First I got some "Pergo flooring" to redo the dining room and living room in my home. Then I purchased a new gas range for the kitchen. I got a Wii fit system, an IPOD for my son, a blue ray DVD player, a reciprocating saw, a scan tool for car repairs my husband wanted this stuff. One dual 9” DVD gaming system for my daughters' car, 2 mongoose bicycles for my grandsons, a Sony 12.1 mega pixel digital camera, some mineral makeup, advantage for the dog, a couple of memory sticks one for the camera and one for a gaming system, an extra Wii controller. The Fedex and UPS drivers were delivering to my house like it was Christmas which by the way I have covered with all my purchases. Thanks Symantec I got a bonus this year just by submitting some articles and being...

I have almost 3 years in this forum and I have see everywhere people pasting their scripts and some cool stuff, also we have requested several times for a script repository where we can share all this stuff, now that the forum is been updated we didn't see that, where is our scripting folder on each category? look at the forum posts an you will see this is been requested for a long time. We don ask much just a place we this can be sorted by Application and what is the script for and maybe symantec experts can share their knowledge and share their scripts or check the already posted ones and make them even better.
Was just a thought.
Regards.

Let me start off by saying that I have been fortunate enough to order quite a couple of things however, some have been nightmares.......
So, a couple of months back I ordered a Nintendo Wii as one of my gifts (01 Aug 2009 08:09 AM) then a three days later (04 Aug 2009 08:59 PM) I get confirmation that my item is ready and going to be shipped that me as normal via DHL ;)
"The item is now available and will be sent to the Shipping Department today for preparation. It will be sent to you by DHL International Mail and the shipping details will be sent to you when they are available. We hope you receive and enjoy this reward."
Two weeks later I had still not received confirmation on my DHL Tracking number (18 Aug 2009 03:27 PM) so I opened the ticked again asking what was happening. The same day, I received confirmation again that there was an issue with DHL and they would let me know my tracking number as soon as it was processed.
"I apologize for the delay...

Don’t fall victim to piracy, educate yourself to protect yourself.
PIRACY CAN COST YOU YOUR IDENTITY!
Pirated software is more likely to contain spyware, which after installation can steal personal and confidential information (for example credit card, bank account, passwords, address book information, etc.) from your computer without your knowledge. Stolen information can be exploited immediately through pirated software by identity thieves.
PIRACY CAN COST YOU YOUR COMPUTER!
Pirated software can make your computer more vulnerable to virus attacks which can lead to loss of irreplaceable files or corruption to other software on your computer. In some cases, pirated software can lead to the destruction of your computer by permanently damaging the hard drive or other components.
Here are a few warning signs:
Too good to be true pricing:
Prices 30% below MSRP are suspicious
Purchase software only from reputable companies. When purchasing from websites make sure...

Here is a reward that Symantec could offer for basicly no cost, that I for one would really appreciate: Symantec licenses for my own computers at home.
Everyone contributing to Symantec Connect is a professional supporting Symantec products. Pretty safe bet we all have computers at home - probably most of us have multilple ones. I bet I'm not the only one running VMWare, VirtualBox, or another virtualization tool to build out virtual machines for different uses. Any time I build a computer or VM at home, I have to decide what to do about AV. I would think that Symantec would love to give me Endpoint Protection rather than have me go out and download the free Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials.
A lot of my personal VM's are Linux. We aren't using Symantec on our Linux boxes at work, so I would think Symantec would be thrilled to have me doing it at home, so when the time comes here at work, I already know how to do it.
Since the cost to Symantec would...

The performance, efficiency, and productivity of IT is not only dependent on the technology solutions deployed, but relies heavily on well-trained IT staff. The education and training of IT professionals has become top of mind for most IT organizations that are looking to optimize current staffing resources and measure the impact on the business through education expenditures in IT.
On behalf of Symantec’s Education Services, The Alchemy Solutions Group is developing a Business Value Analysis Market Research Report around education and training services, by conducting a confidential online survey with our customers. The objective is to analyze the business value—operational and economic impact—around technical training offerings and the business drivers behind the procurement processes.
If you’re an IT professional who participates and/or approves education & technical training services, please take a 5-10 minutes to complete the survey. Your name and...

As we know, if we try to use Remote Installation in SEPM Admins Part & during the Installation, Some errors accure, how we can't find why that error comes & how to trace it for solve the Problem.
It sems that, there is a missing part in SEPM Console that can help Admins, for Tracing the Errors in Remote Installation Procedure & Just we will see a Common error that show us the Installation Procedure was Unsuccessfull & didn't give us any more information ...

When using the SEARCH options from inside the forum
there should be a filter for Solved threads.
As there are filters for
TYPE, PRODUCT, TOPIC, COMMUNITY AND AUTHOR.
So there should also be a filter for Solved threads.
