Is there any way to see the detailed URL accesed by any user ??
The drill down reports end with info like : google.com as the visited site.
Any configuration allow us to see the full URL ?? something like :
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=beretta+9mm&aq=3&oq=berett&aqi=g10

Are the blacklists defined for all computers and users ??
Is there any way to allow the downloading of file extensions blocked in the Blacklists entry list for any specific username, group or organizational unit ??

Using AD usernames and workgroups.... and creating different configuration policies for content filtering. Is there an evaluation order to allow or block access to categories if an user belong to multiple Organizational Units or workgroups and each group has a different policy ??
Example :
Policy # 1 - Apply to workgroup HR - All Content Filtering categories Allowed
Policy # 2 - Apply to workgroup Managers - All categories are blocked
What is the behavior for an user member of the HR and Managers groups ??
Is the evaluation order only for malware detection ??

What is the frecuency of updates ?
What is the typical update size ?

We want to try Web Security out and I have clicked on the Trial Button and filled out the information. I get window that only allows me to download two pdf files for installation and management. I get an email with a serial number but when I go to the symantec web site to download software and put this serial number in it tells me it is no longer valid.
Anyone have suggestions???

Have configure user authentication using LDAP and NTLM, and also configured the policies to use Authentication, with "Authenticated, no enforce" on. Symanted DCInterface is installed in AD.
However, some end-users are still getting prompt on and off. Anyone faced this problem. NTLMv1 is enable on all clients.
Anyway to configure this box to be truely transparent and is there any log files that can be give any clue to the authentication process. The GUI does not provide any logs at all.

As well as meeting up with as many customers as possible, the Gateway Security PM Team (which comprises Brightmail gateway and the new-ish Symantec Web Gateway) like to hold Customer Advisory Boards.
We hold these every six months or so and they give our customers the chance to come together (usually between 10 and 20 in total) to:
Learn and discuss about implementations, experiences and operational best practices.
Provide your feedback and input on what Symantec plans to deliver in upcoming product releases
Make useful contacts by meeting up face to face with your peers from other companies and discuss openly together how you solve real world implementation challenges.
Our next round of them start next month:

November 10th - Tokyo
November 11th - Paris
November 11th - Beijing
November 13th - Singapore
November 16th - Melbourne

Got error on my SBG appliance "403 Request to access page is forbidden". Can someone help me not to get this error and access my SBG console normally. Did I configure something wrong?

Hi,
Just installed our new Symantec Web Gateway model 8450. It was a snap to install, make operational and begin monitoring traffic and blocking the bad guys.
Now I've run a network vulnerability scan on the unit and it identified two problems:
1.) Squid versions 2-4 Stable 6 is vulnerable (can I upgrade this?)
2.) mod_ssl older than 2.8.7 have a buffer over which could allow users to gain a shell remotely.
Also, the SSL certificate is issued by MI5Networks; is there some way to install a proper certificate?

Hallo,
ich sitze hier seit 2 Tagen und bekomme meine Firewall100 nicht in die Werkseinstellung. Habe alles versucht. Die von Symantec beschriebene Reset Methode mit dem DIP1 funktioniert nicht.
Oder ich deute die Englische Beschreibung falsch.
Kann mir jemand helfen? Ich möchte die Firewall reseten.

Hi.
I am struggling a bit to see the difference between these to applications.
To make it short, is it possible to set up and install this sw on a virtual server using vmware or do I need to install it on a physical server ?
Is brightmail doing the same job as the web gateway ? When looking into the documentation for web gateway they are always refering to a physical server.

Initially, I wrote this about Backup Exec, because that's where I ran into this problem. I'm also a SAV & SEP veteran but don't recall seeing this heinous language in their KB articles. So maybe it's a Veritas thing. But, whatever...
...then it occurred to me that while BE may (or may not) be the only Symantec enterprise product to which the symptom applies, the cure is universal. Because it bridges a huge gap between the goals of Symantec Sales, Support, Connect, Knowledge Base, and Product Managers. So I've taken the unusual-and-hopefully-not-presumptuous step of tagging it to all available products. It is global.
That kinda makes it Ideas spam, I know. Never done it before; probably never will again. Hope you can forgive me!
