Symantec must develop virus signatures that recovers the original registry stored in PC. Almost all of threats changed registry which is very tedious to IT personnel to restore the original registry setup.

In SEPM, (under Admin/Local Site) I see that I can check a setting to delete clients that have not connected for x amount of days.   This can only be set for the entire site.  I have a group of Thin Clients that I would like to set to delete after 1 day because these machines get created and deleted everytime they logon.  I would like to keep the rest of the Site to delete machines after 30 days.  It would be nice if I could set that at a group level in addition ...

The current release of removeable media does not allow a user to take a USB drive to a non SEE equiped machine, open the files on the machine and then save it back encryped to the usb drive.  Once the file is opened it can only be saved unencrypted. This then allows confidential data to be compromised.  Please add encrypting data on USB drives  for all data rewritten to a drive.

we can report on risk detections in SEPM based on scan type. There is the option to filter on "Scheduled Scans". Howevere these cannot be broken down into types of scheduled scan i.e. active or full scan. It would be useful to have this granularity to assess if our daily active scan is having any benefit and thus decide if it is worth retaining in addition to the defwatch, which is also an active scan.

The majority of our IT environment is managed using Microsoft products like System Center.  SEP should provide a management pack to interface with SCOM 2007 - MOM 2005 so that relevant messages can be filtered down to SCOM at an enterprise systems management level.  The enterprise systems management team would like to see all critical events in the IT enterprise sent to SCOM, and plan to link SCOM with help desk systems (MS Service Manager and HP Service Manager) so trouble tickets ...

I was unable to install the Symantec Endpoint 64-bit client via push from the server console (Windows 2003 32-bit Std.) to my 64-bit Windows 7 machine.  Instead, I had to explode the Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.5_AllWin_EN_CD1 zip file and, from there, right click on the setup.exe file and change the compatibility to Vista 32-bit.  The client program finally installed into the Program Files (x86) folder. I then followed the instructions in Document ID: 2008110714513748 ...

Group name in the SEP client interface under Help and Support should have hover or the window should be expandable. If there are many sub groups in SEPM then the client interface does not show the complete directory structure.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE HE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Hi, A missing feature is SCSP is when you apply an IPS policy in log mode and events start to role in, there is no way to know if the event will be blocked or allowed when going into prevention. It would be a helpful feature to get a sign a or a status line that says what will be the action of that event when prevention is enabled. Thank you.

After the Migration and Deployment Wizard is done deploying a package to a client machine, it leaves behind a TEMP directory on the C: drive with the setup package and vpremote.  There is no indication what this directory is for and is created by whom.  This makes it difficult to decide whether this directory is needed or not. Ranking by my personal preference, I suggest that one of the following be done 1) The Wizard automatically delete this directory when it is done. 2) put ...

Idea: Edit the text and variables for notifications such as “Single Risk Events” My helpdesk people need to know the source of the infection without having to perform a complex query in SEPM. They simply don't have time. I have a hard time understanding how something that was there before (SAV) is not in there today (SEP). Small details like this can cause a lot of headaches and can slow down processes that were already in place (for years). I am sure other admins like me were ...

Normally, the Size of SEP Clients (Just Antivirus & Anti Spyware modules), that install on the Clients machine, is around ~ 400MB. I think that, this will take Space on Client's, more than Normal Size. Sometimes, when you add more Modules on Clients ( Firewall / Network modules ), it will take around ~ 450-550 MB on Client's machine. I think that, Symantec should review the Size of Clients Packages to Decrease it's Size & Spaces on the Client machines . Best Regards, Jalal n.

As we know, if we try to use Remote Installation in SEPM Admins Part & during the Installation, Some errors accure, how we can't find why that error comes & how to trace it for solve the Problem. It sems that, there is a missing part in SEPM Console that can help Admins, for Tracing the Errors in Remote Installation Procedure & Just we will see a Common error  that show us the Installation Procedure was Unsuccessfull & didn't give us any more ...

Virus spreading thru flash drives is becoming popular. Can we have something like sending the files to management server or central quarantime when we see a file in autorun.inf file for later diagnosis or submitting to symantec automatically. Just an option to have administrators have better control.

1.Performance on a system is greatly impacted if Live Update is running during boot/system login. Please add the ability to delay Live Update during system boot/load for a pre-defined time. As a work around for my testing I have used a time based firewall rule to block LU from running during the hours of 7am - 9am. 2. Please add the ability for the information collector to use LDAP queries to gather information instead of requiring each user to manually enter information. 3.

I look at SEPM,. and I check on the AV def dist list and I see like 30 PC' s are up to date, but 10 are not. When I click, I do not get the information I am looking for, which is, WHAT PC's are NOT up to date. The information is the dist list is really not helpful without knowing what computers are not current. I have to go to each group and check which ones are out of date. This is very time consuming particularly since I will be pushing this wide scale. I would like to have one ...

I have a spare machine which is not switched on for weeks.  When it was switched on, it immediately started to scan as per my policy.  However, the virus definition is weeks old.   This behavious is obvious not desirable.  SEP should get the latest update before scanning.

Now that RU5 has resolved the major issues I was having with system lockdown, I have been able to start seriously playing with it. While doing so, it has become apparent that major work needs to be done on the way file exclusion lists are handled. Currently file exclusions need to be entered one at a time in each group with system lockdown enabled. It is impossible to save a list of exclusions and import them into another group. It is even impossible to edit and exclusion once it has been ...

I would like a tool to see if my clients are receiving their new definitions from their Group Update Provider or the primary SEP server.

According to the current options in SEPM if you want to schedule the updates for client you should use a liveupdate server for updating clients. It will be nice if we can schedule updates irrespective of the updating method (we may use direct updating method from SEPM or through GUP).If such an option is available we will have a good control over the updation timing and it will be easy for managing the network load (in places where bandwidth is two low or the network is already having a good ...
