(re-posting a previously requested item) Require Symantec to provide a boot CD (or instructions on how to create one), so we can boot from this CD and fully scan a machine, without having to load Windows. This can be very useful when attempting to detect or remove a stubborn threat / trojan / virus, especially when the threat can't be removed, even via Windows Safe Mode. Being able to also run this via USB key would be ideal.

I would like to add an idea about online status of the users in Symantec connect.   It will be good to see a status icon(small bubble) beside user virtual face(avatar) like Green for online orange for inactive etc.... It will be easy for us to know the person availability and do PM.

The variable for the current user's profile (Documents and Settings...) is currently unavailable when creating file and folder exclusions in Centralized Exception policies. I know that this variable exists, as many programs (Internet Explorer, Firefox et all) use it; It stands to reason that exclusions may need to be made there.

Currently the scheduled reports in SEPM emails the report in a .MHT file extention.  Would be great to have other formats to choose from like PDF, DOC, and maybe few image file formats.

In Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, when one configures Centralized Exceptions to Add -> Security Risk Exceptions -> Known Risks, the EICAR test 'virus' is not listed as an available choice.  Including this would be useful for testing exception policies, please add it.

Greetings, DB replication failure Email notification only send when setting as following conditions. --- In “Edit Notification Condition” Check “Replication failure” and set “Informational and above” in severity menu. I think this specification couldn’t satisfy the user who wants to send Email alert only when the error occurs. As above settings allow to send a lots of Email notifications other than replication failure event. I think this should be ...

The idea is, Like application control has a test mode, that allows applications to run but logs the operation. On the device control you cant do such a thing and you could only block or un-block without logging. Adding Log mode to device control will help creating better reports and allow better policy management.

How about adding an option in SEPM to right click on non-SEP client and select "Ping" to determine if the client is online or not before attempting to push an upgrade

I was generating the System inventory report from SEP11 console; I am getting all the details of the systems in the reports but i am not able to see the Serial number of the system. So it is suggested to include the feature in SEP11 to collect the end system serial number as well, as it will help us Maintaining the asset inventory of the organization. Regrads, Mahesh Belagali

We'd like to see that we could delay the startup scan for X minutes. It takes the machine forever to boot when the Startup scan takes place while the user is logging in and starting his applications. If we could start the machine fully up until the user is ready to work, and would then do the startup scan, it would be much quicker because the OS/Apps & SEP would not fight for the same ressources... Cheers Michel

I would like SEP to include a malicious software removal tool. Usually you can download a similar tool for specific viruses but I think it could be included already in the install package and be accessible with one button within the SEP client. The removal tool can be loaded with new definitions to be able to remove newer threats just like the normal AV. If this is not possible the second best option would be if when a virus is caught by SEP there should be a quick link next ...

(re-posting previous requested item) We have a large number of remote sites which are connected across low-bandwidth network links to the site where our SEPM resides. It is difficult for us to distribute new maintenance releases and product patches to the machines on these remote sites due to the bandwidth. We use Group Update Provider on these sites to distribute content updates every day. We would like to also be able to use the same method to distribute product updates.

(re-posting previously requested item) In the SEPM console today, it is not possible to rename "My Company" on the clients page. We would like to rename this to our actual company name, by right-clicking and entering the new name.

hi, not sure if this has been added as Idea, if yes, sorry for duplicating it. SEPM console should have provision to differentiate the GUP from rest other clients. While troubl;eshooting ot will help. We have other way open LU policy and check the GUP machine, which seems to be bit time consuming in matter of few seconds, though differeentiating in terms of icon will definetly help. Cheers Pete

If a company can bring out a product that defrags your hard drive with zero impact to your system, im sure Symantec can work on the impact caused while running a full system scan We need a anti virus product which is lean and zero impact so it feels you dont even have a symantec antivirus product installed!

It would be nice to have a list of known and confirmed bugs that Symantec support knows with a plan to fix it and maybe voting system (like in ideas) that we may vote what should be fixed first. With a bug there should be also ETA for a fix (in what release it will be fixed). Sometimes there is a known problem and even whitepapers available but only for internal use and it would be handy to be able to seek and reference something when calling support (obviously I'm not expecting that some ...

Say i have a network of 10,000 clients One main site having 5000 clients and 50 other sites having 100 cients each. Many of the sites are remote off-shore sites with as usual bandwidth problems I am using GUP for Definition updates on all of these sites. Now as there are so frequent MR and MP releases that everytime a product update comes I have to push it out to all the clients. Even if I assign the package all the clients try to upgrade at once that chokes up the whole bandwidth. The ...

I see from the forums that we're not the only ones who have problems with the versions of Java that SEPM supports.  So two requests: * Symantec needs to support new versions & patches of Java as they are released.  This may require being a Sun partner so you can get releases for testing before they are released to the general population.  * Symantec needs to provide a simple mechanism for the SEPM user to specify an alternate JRE installation, so that users can have their ...

A cool feature now that you guys have integrated so many things into the end point protection suite would be a dynamic global block list (hosted on the management server) that would be populated based upon administrator defined rules.  As an example: 3 clients (A,B,C) if client A detects a hack attempt from client C, Client A reports the hack attempt along with the source IP address to the management server who then adds that IP address to a global block list.  Client B then ...

Add to SEP an option in the policies to SCAN when idle (feature is already available in Norton Internet Security). Would run a full scan on the PC if no user activity for a administrator defined period of time (default = 5 minutes). Scan pauses when user activity resumes and will then continue when idle again. Scan will run if no user logged in. On shutdown scan exits gracefully. Ideally would re-start where it finished last time. Also needs to know when last full scan completed ...
